Geeking While Booted III

My boots took me on three airline flights yesterday, hop-skipping-and-jumping across the United States to end up in the 49th state of our nation. Will be kinda busy here doing “sciency” things, learning a lot, and hopefully assisting others to learn from me, so…

My Position on Technology

Dear readers,

Yesterday I posted a blog when I described some of my personal opinions regarding certain technologies. One reader got his knickers in a twist and sent me a rant about it. On re-reading what I posted, I realized that it had an uncharacteristically snarky tone, so I decided to delete it and start again.

Following are my personal opinions on technology available today. You may be surprised…

Browsers of This Blog

I am always curious about who visits this blog. I have a small snippet of software that collects information about visitors (in a general but not specific sense) and provides interesting information.

Before implementation of the European GDPR privacy law, I used to see data on what keywords people were searching and I used those findings to develop posts for this blog. After all, if I knew what information people were searching, I could write about topics searched if the topic fit this blog’s primary focus.

However, that information is no longer provided due to implementation of this privacy law. Even though it applies only to Europe, its effects span the globe.

So now I can see…

Harley-Davidson Labeled Boots: Still Crap

I was sent an email that made my blood boil again. Subject: “Head-to-Toe Harley” in which the Motor Company was promoting a H-D labeled fitted shirt, overpriced black slim jeans, and “men’s Darrol boots.”

I blog (or rant) about this from time to time, but let me warn once more:

Just because a pair of boots carries the label of a famous U.S.-made product (Harley-Davidson motorcycles) does not mean their boots are made in the USA with quality craftsmanship.

I assume the Motor Company has heard this before, and perhaps learned a lesson from the settlement agreement with Justin Brands over Chippewa Boots “made in USA” claim, so now careful shoppers will see…

Our “When We Met-aversary”

One thing I love about English is that you can make up words and people know what you mean (or can figure it out.)

Twenty-six years ago today was the first time I met the man who would forever change my life for the better. Become my soulmate, partner-in-life, and six years ago, my husband, right here in the county of my birth.

Who woulda thunk? I know that…

Diverted

My mind is diverted and has been for a while. Not much heart in blogging about boots and leather when there are more important things going on.

My Spouse is dealing with supporting his Mom as she endures a long, slow, decline. He has…

Serious and Silly Email

One may think that I receive a large number of messages via this blog and my website, but I really don’t get more than 2 – 3 per week (other than stupid spam, that despite recaptcha, still gets through. I delete all of those.)

Most of the messages I receive are interesting and are serious questions from someone; a few, like one I received this morning, are silly. That one …

Selfie Cop Boot Pic

While I was hunting for something to write about on this blog, I did a random internet search using keywords such as “cop boots” or “dehner boots” or “dress dehners”… and I was not surprised to discover that the vast majority of images that come up on the internet search “images” tab were those that I have taken and posted on this blog or my cop galleries that (currently) has more than 2,000 photos of U.S. motorcops and their boots.

What amused me was finding this…
