Come this Saturday, my twin brother will be celebrating his birthday. This is my special wish for him…

How to Interpret Boot Marketing
You have to give credit to the hucksters, or pros in writing advertising and marketing copy. Some of them are very gifted in their writing skills to promote the products they are hired to write about.
We see this stuff all the time. We are constantly bombarded with advertising and marketing hype. It is both a science and an art to write ad copy to attract attention and get someone to buy a product, like boots.
For example, here is copy from a popular boot retailer’s web page about a pair of boots, pictured here:

Back To School Boots
I don’t know about you, but I am being bombarded daily from boot retailers promoting “back to school boots.” Well, good for them — get the kids out of sneakers and into real footwear. The question is, “if I use a liquid product to stretch boots, what should I use?”
My response…

Making the Wrong Call
I blew it… I admit it. I planned well ahead, then let others influence a decision when I was indecisive. Oh well, these things happen to all road captains in a motorcycle club from time to time.
What happened?

Hope and Optimism
I am, by nature, an optimistic person. I see an 350ml glass with 175ml of water in it, and I think the glass is “pretty full.” Not even half-full, but “more than enough to quench my thirst.”
I have always been that way. I cannot explain exactly why. Perhaps my parents had something to do with it, ensuring that we were happy and safe, well fed, loved, and cared for as we were growing up.
So my usual bright and cheerful outlook could not be withheld on Wednesday when I took my spouse for a routine visit with his doctor…
