Not Gay Enough

I’ve heard it all now.

Yesterday, I received a phone call from someone I have worked with, sporadically, on local government advocacy issues. We advocate for different matters — he is very active on the LGBT advocacy, while I engage in more mundane issues like transportation, roads, zoning, construction on in-fill lots, and so forth.

This guy and I met about ten years ago when we both volunteered to start up a local LGBT social group, but as is typical for gay things, the group started with a flash, then within a couple years, the A-gays who ran it flitted off to other things and the group fell apart.

Anyway, the phone call from this guy caught me off guard. He wanted me to know that he was getting married, but he did not want my feelings to be hurt because he was not sending me an invitation to the wedding.

Frankly, I felt…

Quiet and Peaceful

Things at the ol’ BHD ranch are quiet and peaceful these days. The spouse and I have mostly recovered from the bad colds that we had. My doc was amazed that I got over it in 3 days, because his experience with this strain of the cold virus has been that it has caused cold symptoms to last much longer.

I am not 1000%, but with rest, home-made chicken soup, fluids, and more rest, I am over the worst of it and will return to work tomorrow.

It is darn cold, so our activities have been…

Airport Boot Sightings

Recently, I flew from Washington, DC, through Charlotte, North Carolina, to a city on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. While in the airports waiting for my flights, of course I did a lot of people watching — or in my case — looking for the occasional boot sighting.

I am pleased, at least during winter, there were more boots on men’s feet than anticipated. Of course there were a few dodo birds who…

We Have a Code

Yep, my spouse got it first… a cold. Then despite as careful as I was with hand-washing and decontaminating doorknobs, I came down with it, too, on my recent business trip. Bleccch… traveling with a cold is no fun.

When we speak, it comes out…

Travel Break

As you read this, I am on a brief business trip to a state on the southeastern Atlantic Coast. I am really busy, and do not have time to write and submit posts while I am traveling.

Check back again by Thursday. Thank you for your patience.

Life is short: working hard is fun!

Organizing Boots for the New Year

My spouse is the good kind of neatnick. He detests clutter, and has helped me mend my former ways of “file by pile” as well as “boot storage = where you took them off last.” (giggle.)

After all, I developed my website because my best half was complaining of tripping over boots and that I did not know how many I had, or whether I liked them or not.

For about a half-day yesterday, the boot storage issue in our house…

Resuming Routine, in Boots

Now that my Christmas vacation is over, I have returned to the usual routine: awaken at 0400, bathe, dress, do quiet stuff, then pull on my boots and leave for work by 0515. Man, that was hard yesterday (Friday), my first day back at work for the year.

During my time off, my twin brother and I …
