On Friday, July 28, our ride was through the Bear’s Ears monument area of Utah, north to Hanksville, west to Torrey, then south through the Capitol Reef National Park and Grand Staircase Escalante Monument.
And rain. Lots of monsoon rain added to unease and actual moments of sheer terror.

My friend, JB, a local motorcop, has been training me and helping me to prepare for my upcoming long motorcycle ride in Utah. He has been meeting me at the police riding range and putting me through the paces. I appreciate what he is doing for me, as I am noticing that my skills are improving.
Regular readers of this blog are aware that I had a crash last May whilst commuting on my Harley to work. I had become accustomed to arriving at my office by 0530, sometimes earlier. And my commute to work was almost always in the dark. That was among the reasons of the cause of my crash — cage drivers can’t see motorcycles in broad daylight, so why would I expect a cage driver to see me in the dark? (Even though my bike is extremely well-lit!)
