Some Play Between Work

WaterfallMy spouse and I worked on our backyard waterfall and patio project all day Saturday. Starting with buying another 800 pounds of rocks and sand (10 80-pound bags) first thing in the morning, we transported the materials to our back yard via wheelbarrow and prepared the foundation for the patio.

I took a few hours on Sunday to do something different…

Riding Between Raindrops

Ride0630thumbI did manage to lead a motorcycle ride yesterday. The skies at times looked like it was going to pour, then the sun came out, then it misted a bit, then got sunny. Turned out to be a regular steam bath. But we had a great ride!

Photos below were taken by a buddy on the ride. If you can’t tell, I’m the one way up front…

BTW, two guys on the ride were talking about the recent decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court on gay issues. Then they turned to me and said,

Riding

Having completed 22 out of 22 chores from the Honey-Do list, my spouse gave me some time off for good behavior. This blog post is short today ’cause I’m out riding. See ya’ on the road!

Riding To Work

I ride my Harley most every day in my commute to and from the office. I am among the very fortunate whose work location is close to home — in the same town (really, same sprawling suburb). So here I am, on the plaza in front of the building where I work… on my Harley and wearing Wesco patrol boots with dress slacks tucked into them.TwerkI have been commuting to work via motorcycle for some 30 years. Read on for more of the experiences.

Escorted Ride

Went on a fundraising ride for a police charity today. The ride was escorted by our county’s finest. They stopped traffic on cross streets and at ramps on interstate highways so that our ride could proceed unimpeded. It is quite something to have the Capital Beltway to yourself!

Here are a few photos… great ride!

Riding To Remember

Sunday, May 12, I rode with about 15 of my friends, some of whom are retired or active law enforcement officers, to the annual “Law Ride” which kicks off Police Week in Washington, DC. We rode to the staging area then rode in procession past the U.S. Capitol to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in downtown DC.

When A Man’s Dreams Turn to Motorcycling

RidesmallAh, Spring… a time of renewing the spirit and the soul. A time of rebirth. And a time when a lot of guys consider buying a motorcycle and joining those of us who enjoy the freedom and spirit of riding the road on two motor-powered wheels. Nothing like it…

I have been riding a motorcycle since March 18, 1978. Just how do I remember the exact date 35 years ago, and how did I become a biker?

Motorcop Compliment

We have been enjoying unseasonably warm weather in our neck of the woods. With daytime temperatures in the high 80s (~31C), my Harley has been my constant companion and form of transportation. Glad to be back on the saddle again.

While I was out and about, a local motor officer rode up next to me and we soon came to a stop at a traffic signal. He looked over at me, recognized me, smiled broadly, and said, …
