I did manage to lead a motorcycle ride yesterday. The skies at times looked like it was going to pour, then the sun came out, then it misted a bit, then got sunny. Turned out to be a regular steam bath. But we had a great ride!
Photos below were taken by a buddy on the ride. If you can’t tell, I’m the one way up front…
BTW, two guys on the ride were talking about the recent decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court on gay issues. Then they turned to me and said,
“good news, isn’t it?”
My reply: “Yep, especially about DOMA.”
Their response, “thought so.”
And that was it. We then turned our attention to the ride, giving directions, the ride briefing, then taking off.
I relay the above details because I want to reinforce a point: a gay man can be a leader in a motorcycle club that appeals primarily to straight guys. The other members don’t care that I am gay. They have long gotten over the “ick factor” that I have a relationship with a man. In fact, most of these guys have come a long way, and not only are they “cool” with my being gay and being married to my man, they are happy about my spouse and me getting equal treatment as any other married couple.
Now, as my buddies say, “let’s get back to what’s important … the ride!”

Life is short: ride!
