Riding To Remember

Sunday, May 12, I rode with about 15 of my friends, some of whom are retired or active law enforcement officers, to the annual “Law Ride” which kicks off Police Week in Washington, DC. We rode to the staging area then rode in procession past the U.S. Capitol to the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in downtown DC.
NicebootThis is but one photo that I took —

… it will take me a lot longer to process the remaining photos of this event.

I regret that attendance by active duty officers is dwindling more and more… other events requiring local cops to work were going on in and near the city of Washington, DC. Unfortunately, their work took them away from joining us — about 500 supporters and about 40 cops, mostly from Florida and Ohio.
LR2013HIt was great, however, to see and catch up with my friend Clockner who I saw at the Memorial. He’s a great guy. Sorry to have missed Auxmccop who I spoke with by phone, but did not see–he was unable to get to the Memorial when I was there. My group left early so we could get back home to spend time with those we love.

More later…

Life is short: remember those who served and have died in the line of duty.

  1. Hi Harleydude

Good to see your photos and riding with the police escorts. Must have been great and will look forward to seeing more of your photos.
Did I tell you that I am volunteering for CHP and we wear uniforms for volunteers but don’t ride bikes – just drive patrol cars. I am going to drive a patrol car back to Sacto tomorrow as they had a bottle rock festival here and we had 40 extra officers here and needed patrol cars. Is very nice to help out! Will send you a photo of bikes in Sacto that are for CHP.
