Oh, the weather outside is delightful, but any fire inside would be frightful, so since we’ve got lots of places to go, let it roll, let it roll, let it roll…

Last Ride of the Season
Man, who knew back in July when I signed up to lead a ride yesterday that we would have a freeze warning? When I awoke, temperatures at my house were 37F (2C), and when I left to meet my riding buddies from my club, it warmed up to a whopping…

Leather Weather Hath Returned
Last week here in the ‘burbs of DC, it was still summer hot and humid. I got my Harley back — finally had an electrical ghost fixed, and rode it to work on Friday on a pleasantly sunny and warm day. In fact, Friday my boss and I…

Birthday Shenanigans
I woke really early on Sunday, my birthday. I was really, really, REALLY missing my best half who remains in Pittsburgh caring for his ailing mother.
If he were here in the bed next to me, I would have snuggled closer to him and…

Leading a Ride
I worked out time to lead a ride for my club on Sunday. I was pleased that 14 riders showed up, which was outstanding considering that the air temperature at the time of our initial gathering was 95F (35C) with dew points (measurement of humidity) at 75F (24C) making the heat index feel like it was 124F (over 50C!)
As long as we kept riding…

Joy-In-The-Heart Ride
Yesterday, the sun was shining — both in the sky and in my heart.
My “kid-bro” cousin came to my house on his motorcycle with his girlfriend (passenger). We took off to ride together.
That ride was about the most special, heart-warming, fun rides that I have had. Here’s why…

Cleared To Ride
I had another CT scan of my back. This time, I had the results read by a physician with experience in evaluating muscle and ligament problems in the back.
I am very glad that I consulted with my insurance company to identify the correct professional to evaluate the results because…

My View When I Ride
Below is a video that I shot when using a GoPro video camera (simple basic no-frills “Hero4” model) mounted to my motorcycle helmet. I captured 18 minutes of HD video, which I edited to produce a 3:49 minute video of the highlights of the “Law Ride” in which I participated as a rider on Sunday, May 10.
It is cumbersome, time-consuming, and difficult to produce and edit videos these days, so I make far fewer videos than I once did when technology was much simpler and faster.
After the jump, enjoy the video:

Riding for Honor
This past weekend, I had two annual “for honor” motorcycle rides in which I have participated before, but due to my regular promise to my spouse and sr. pals, I could choose only one of them to participate in. Each weekend, I give one and a half days for work around the house and sr. pal support, and then one half-day to ride. Tough balance — but there is no way I can take two full days of a weekend to ride. Such is the life of a guy who works full-time and has only weekends for personal time.
Which ride did I do, and why?

Chapped
This time of year in the area of the world where I live, Spring has sprung and prime “ride-the-Harley-to-work” season has returned! After a really slow start, the weather is now much more cooperative for me to enjoy my motorcycle passion while commuting to my professional passion.
This time of year, however, also means that it is cool at oh-dark-30 in the morning when I depart my home to ride to the office. That means that it’s chaps weather. So noted…
