Voluntary Remodeling Contractor

Most of my loyal blog readers know that I do lots of home remodeling through voluntary efforts. I usually join groups who remodel homes for seniors to make their homes move livable and to accommodate their needs as they grow older.

Yesterday, however, I served as a General Contractor (supervisor) of the largest “build” I have ever done — to totally remodel the home of a wounded warrior to whom I was introduced by a senior pal. This guy is the grandson of one of my dearest senior pals. She asked me if I would oversee a remodeling job for her grandson’s house three months ago.

It took a long time for all of the arrangements to come through, but yesterday and today, everything came into place.

Daily Boot Chatter

Lucphython01I have made it very clear that I wear boots every day while doing everything that I do. I wear them with nice clothes that I wear to work. I wear them even with suits on the rare occasions that I have to dress up. I wear motorcycle boots while riding my Harley — always — no silly unsafe sneakers for me! I even wear boots when I do my long vigorous walks — hikers. Again, sneakers? Bah, humbug!

It is amusing to me how many people know that I’m a regular and reliable “boot guy.” I catch them stealing glances, asking themselves and sometimes voicing the question, “what boots does he have on today?”

Two Million Miler

Mtrainier2014I received a letter in the mail yesterday from an airline frequent flier program advising me that I have achieved “two million mile” status, or permanent Gold status, with that airline’s frequent flier program.

Mobile-Friendly Website Adjusting

Companies that are filthy rich get richer off those who pay whatever the companies want to charge, and in my opinion, are throwing away thousands of dollars every year in exchange for the minor conveniences that these devices offer.

Believe me, people still got along quite fine in the days before these devices became ubiquitous.

However, I realize that…

Avoiding Black Friday

Another all too-short blog post…

Yes, we survived yet another Thanksgiving Feastival. 102 guests… about average. We had a great time, and I am grateful to my family for all of the help, but most of all, to my legion of senior pals who made the day terrific.

Today, I am doing my best to avoid the computer. I admit, I have a weakness when it comes to…

Happy Day

So I wish all my U.S. readers a very Happy Thanksgiving, and thank everyone, no matter where you are from, for being a loyal follower of this blog and my ramblings.CBTGLife is short: share joy.

Choices: WW(BHD)D?

Every day we are faced with choices. What to eat? Where to go? Buy a product or service…. But the more challenging decision are those about what one would do when having to make a choice about getting involved in something dividing others; choosing to say something nice vs. not anything at all; or making a comment/voicing an opinion that is often a judgment on someone else.

Those who are of the Christian faith sometimes are heard asking, “what would Jesus do?” (WWJD) [to act in a manor that demonstrates the love accredited to Jesus in how he cared for others.]

This past week, I had several people tell me that they ask themselves, “what would (BHD) do?” (They use my real name). Man, that’s a heavy burden to think that I am considered an example to follow.
