Google Forces Change on YouTube–I’m Done

I signed on to my YouTube account the other day. Haven’t been there for a while. For the past several months, the sign-on process has been pestering me for my real name, but I could always skip it and tell it that “Booted Harleydude” is the name for that account.

Now, however, Google forced a change on YouTube, which they can do since they own it. They now require setting up a Google Plus Profile or Google Plus Page. They are very clear about a profile being only for people using their own names, and that pages are for pseudonyms.

Congratulatory Marriage Note in Newsletter

I am a member of several organizations and clubs in the community where I live. All of these organizations are related to activities that I enjoy — civic work, motorcycling, rehabbing old houses, and my ol’ college fraternity alumni association. All of these organizations are composed of straight people/couples. At least I am not aware of any gay members of any of these organizations. I’m sure there must be other members who are gay, but I haven’t asked and they haven’t told.

I do not belong to any clubs that are related to gay issues. No “MC” or LGBT groups.

So it was a pleasant surprise to me when the July issue of a newsletter for one of these organizations had the following shout-out to me and my spouse:

My Romantic Spouse

When I arrived home from work yesterday, I was tired and dragging ass. I enjoy commuting on my Harley, but when it is very hot and humid, it takes its toll, especially after a hard day at the office. I was looking forward to having dinner at home, then curling up on the sofa next to my spouse … and probably nodding off.
