Difference Between Firefighter Boots and Wildland Firefighter Boots

Ahhh… how one word makes a huge difference in boot design and use.

So what is the difference between “firefighter boots” and “wildland firefighter boots”, also known as “fire boots” or by the names applied to the boots by their respective manufacturers, such as “Firestormer” (Wesco) and “Smokejumpers” (White’s Boots).

Boot Preferences

Lucclassicdkgrey06I have frequently said on this blog that guys should wear the “right boot for the right application.” For example, smooth leather-soled cowboy boots are not a good choice to wear when operating a motorcycle.

Since I do not bring a change of clothes to work with me (being a guy who doesn’t use a gym, I have no reason to bring a gym bag), I find other ways to handle the situation of wearing suitable boots to wear in my office while also doing double-duty as acceptable work boots for my after-work chores. How am I booted?

The Week’s Boots

Bouletblack07This is a recap of what boots I wore during the past week, including “boots at work.” That is, for labor I did last weekend, as well as what I wore to my office. That’s me — always booted. I changed boots at least once each day, sometimes more often depending on what I am doing, where I am going, and what form of transportation I will be using. Follow along.
