This is a recap of what boots I wore during the past week, including “boots at work.” That is, for labor I did last weekend, as well as what I wore to my office. That’s me — always booted. I changed boots at least once each day, sometimes more often depending on what I am doing, where I am going, and what form of transportation I will be using. Follow along.
Sunday, September 1
Spent the day doing a home remodel and creative design job for a wounded warrior. This young man has a wife, three cute kids, but lives in an old house that does not accommodate a wheelchair all that well. This guy lost both legs while serving in the Army in Afghanistan. Sad situation. He wanted to be able to go out to his deck through the back door which was not wide enough for his chair to roll through. My spouse and two buddies and I fixed that — tore out the old door, widened the frame, built a new header, and installed a new door. We also crafted a new stand for his grill so it would be reachable at chair height. We all enjoyed steaks grilled by my new friend who was so very happy.
How was I booted? Timberland Work Boots. Comfortable and beat-up on the toes so more squatting wouldn’t damage them (any worse.)
Remarkable: I only wore one pair of boots on Sunday.
Monday, September 2
This was “Labor Day” Monday, a holiday in the U.S. My spouse and I began the morning by going grocery shopping. I wore my Justin distressed brown cowboy boots.
When we got home, I changed into All American Firefighter Boots (oil-tanned) and got to work on repairing our lower deck. These make great work boots.
Later in the day, I got nekked and soaked with my spouse in our hot tub. No boots. Not even wet boots (giggle.)
Tuesday, September 3
First day of the shorter work week. Return to work at my office in the downtown of my hometown. Black dress slacks, blue shirt, no tie. I wore Chippewa Hi-Shine lug-sole engineer boots. Rode the Harley to work. They looked great with dress slacks over them. A colleague made me laugh when he caught a glimpse of the sun shining on them when we were in a meeting: “I need sunglasses to protect myself from the reflection of those boots!”
When I got home that day, I changed into jeans and Lucchese “blue jeans” blue/white/black cowboy boots. Just because I like those boots. Went out to relax with my spouse on our new patio. Made dinner, then changed again. Shorts, t-shirt, and … bare feet. Snuggled with my spouse until our usual 8:30pm bedtime.
Wednesday, September 4
Gorgeous morning! Pulled on a pair of khakis with a green dress shirt, no tie. Wore my wine-colored Boulet harness boots. Rode the Harley to work. Worked worked worked.
Came home, changed to jeans and Chippewa Firefighters. Rode the Harley again to a senior pal’s home to do a quick repair. Rode back home. Prepared dinner. After our meal, I changed to shorts, t-shirt, and bare feet. Snuggled with my spouse until our usual 8:30pm bedtime.
Thursday, September 5
Another gorgeous morning! Pulled on a pair of blue dress slacks, blue dress shirt, no tie. Wore my black Chippewa ostrich harness boots. Leathered up, rode the Harley to work. Worked. Worked Worked.
Rode home, changed clothes. Jeans and a pair of Tony Lama “Oryx” (cream colored) ostrich cowboy boots. Why? I dunno… they were there and looked lonely. The color also goes very well with blue denim jeans. I prepared dinner for my spouse and myself, then I was picked up by a friend and we went (in his car) to a community meeting about zoning/building/development. Said my piece, twice. Came home in time to relax with my spouse for about a half-hour before going to bed really late! 9:00pm! Oh my!
Friday, September 6
Fantastically cool, leather-up weather for my morning Harley ride to work! Woo-hoo! And it’s “jeans in the office” Friday! Can’t beat that! Clean blue denim jeans, western shirt, and Chippewa “Briar Pitstop” brown cowboy/work boots. Great Vibram minilug sole for traction on the motorcycle, yet the boots look very presentable in the office. Worked. Worked Worked.
When I got home, I just changed from my dressier shirt to a t-shirt, then my spouse and I went to the local building supplies retailer to get “stuff”. I always need “stuff.” You will see the results of the “stuff” we bought later on this blog.
Changed boots again to Lucchese brown wingtip cowboy boots. Why? Why not? Look great with jeans. Grilled a couple of steaks, and enjoyed dinner outside on our deck.
After dinner, for once this week, I did not change into shorts and bare feet. It was kinda cool. I kept the jeans, shirt, and boots on ’til our usual 8:30 bedtime.
Saturday, September 7
Well, I don’t quite know yet what today will bring, boot-wise. This post is scheduled to go live before I awaken in the morning and choose the boots I will wear. Probably at first, comfy cowboy boots with leather jeans and a long-sleeved denim shirt. It will be cold(er). Ah! Leather-weather time! I will take my usual cadre of senior pals grocery shopping.
When I get home, I will change into work boots of some sort and get going on building something with the materials that my spouse and I bought at the building supplies store on Friday.
Boots and more boots
Yep. Why? Because — life is short: wear boots!
