Last Group Ride?

I carved out time in my usual overloaded weekend schedule to go for a ride with long-term friends from my former motorcycle riding club. The destination was in a lovely setting in the rolling Appalachian mountains on the eastern end of what’s known as the Blue Ridge. This area is in northern Maryland and southern Pennsylvania.

Seven riders, including me, got together for this ride (which ultimately was 166 miles/267km). A sunny and warming day beckoned. However…

Dual-Purposed Ride

Some of my regular readers have commented or emailed me to ask why it seems as if I have not been riding my Harley very much. Well… good questions and I appreciate the concern. It is true that my Harley’s saddle has had my butt absent for most of this riding season.

Booted for Spring

Despite Old Man Winter struggling to hang on, at least in the upper Midwestern USA today where up to 15 inches of snow is in the forecast, down here in the Mid-Atlantic, Spring has arrived. Sure, we will have some cool days and nights, but we also are having more warmer days with bright sunshine, flowers, and tons of motorcycles on the roads! Woo-hoo!

Tribute: “Stompers” Mike McNamee

I was saddened to learn that Mike McNamee, former owner of Stompers Boots of San Francisco, died on Thursday, August 23, after a brief illness.

His death was a shock to me. I had last spoken with him by phone in December. I feel badly that I had let so much time pass before trying to get in touch again.
