It is that time of year again when schools open for the next school year. In years past, I helped great nephews of high school age to get boots to wear to school. As far as I know, all those I got booted are still wearing them, even to college.

In closing my staycation this year, I continued my service as a judge for a motorcycle police riding competition, otherwise known as a “motorcycle police rodeo.”
I am pleased to present updated riding gear that I received (or purchased for myself) to celebrate having healed my injuries from the motorcycle crash on 31 May and getting back on my Harley.
Fa bene means, “oh well.” Today, Sunday 14 August, I would have been arriving at Fuimicino Airport in Rome, Italy. Yep, I had a trip planned for quite a while to see a man. My spouse even approved being left behind while I went tootin’ off to see this guy.
The relapse of the infection that my spouse has been fighting this week has produced highly variable symptoms, including vertigo, nausea, brain fog, and aphasia (unable to express words, though he knows them.)
Has anyone seen my spouse? He is the good-looking hunk who hangs around our house. He is the one who tends to our gardens, does all our laundry, and cuts coupons to match them with sales that we frequently save 40% or more on our weekly groceries.
I am very unhappy. My beloved spouse who had dealt with a horrible long-term illness that put him through three YEARS of hell has had a relapse. (I wrote about our ordeal in many posts on this blog,
I ride with a motorcycle riding club. We have several dozen people who serve as Road Captains, and I am among that cadre. I had a ride planned for this past Saturday, but canceled it on the day before the ride when the forecast for rain was 70%. Of course, the morning of the ride, the rain forecast had reduced to 20%, but you can’t un-cancel a canceled ride. I was disappointed to let my fellow club members down, but these things happen. (I often over-think weather forecasts!)
