On this USA Independence Day, I am posting photos of some of my favorite boots made in the USA. Read on…

Boot Care
I own and wear many pairs of cowboy boots and motorcycle boots. From time to time, I receive emails asking for information on how I care for them. I have been asked, for example, “how often do you shine your boots?”
A loyal follower of this blog recently wrote to me and said that he searched this blog for information on boot care and could not find such info. I will fix that with this post.
How does BHD recommend caring for boots?

Keeping a Shine on Firefighter Boots
Fridays are casual days in the office. I wear denim jeans, casual shirt, no tie (thankfully) and — always — a pair of boots. Yesterday I was wearing my smooth-soled Chippewa Firefighter Boots.
I was sitting in my boss’ office and had my left leg crossed over my right. The boot was prominent. My boss asked,

Post-Christmas Ride
My spouse had a long list of chores to do on the day after Christmas. Fortunately, we got the chores done rather quickly.
My brother and his wife wanted visit some of our family, my mother-in-law had that hungry look in her eye. So I tossed my brother the keys to my truck and said, “it’s yours for the rest of the day.”
I got busy feeding the bottomless pit … I mean my mother-in-law. But after lunch, the sun was brilliant and it was unusually warm for this time of year. My spouse graciously suggested,

Boots Worn Recently
I posted recently that I was not writing blogs about what boots I wore each day during the week because it took a lot of time do construct those detailed posts. However, in response to some comments and emails I received, my commentary of “boots of some period of time” has returned, albeit more abbreviated. Here goes…

Boot Favorites
A good friend of mine recently asked me, “Do you have a very very favorite pair of boots (cowboy or otherwise)? Like, the “bury me in these” boots?”
He said that it would be really hard for him to make a choice, and the same is true for me. I can’t say that I have one particular pair of boots that are my absolutely favorites, but here are some of my top choices.

Chippewa Hi-Shine Strapless Boots 71419
Late last Autumn, I received an email announcing that a new style of Chippewa Boots were being offered — model 71419 “Strapless Engineers.”
What are “strapless” engineer boots? Same style as regular engineers — round toe, form of the vamp (foot), stovepipe shaft, buckle at the top of the shaft — but no strap and buckle across the instep.
The boots took a long time to be made. Delivery was promised in January, but slipped until February, then March, and finally the boots arrived in April.
Now that I own a pair of these boots, what is my opinion and review?

0400 and Riding
Yesterday, I had to get to work extra early … had a response requirement. That happens sometimes and is the nature of my job.
I had time to check the weather forecast… the day would be partly sunny, no rain, and it was above freezing.
So this biker pulled on his…

Nationwide Shortage of Chippewa Motorcycle Boots
I hate to say it, but I have confirmed that there is indeed a nationwide shortage of an excellent brand of motorcycle boots — Chippewa. The boot styles that are currently not available (in common men’s sizes) include–

The Week’s Boots
This is a recap of what boots I wore during the past week, including “boots at work.” That is, for labor I did last weekend, as well as what I wore to my office. That’s me — always booted. I changed boots at least once each day, sometimes more often depending on what I am doing, where I am going, and what form of transportation I will be using. Follow along.
