Why Did You Marry Your Partner?

With all the media attention on same-sex marriage, a number of visits to this blog have come in, primarily driven by internet search engines. A writer for a major U.S. Metropolitan newspaper contacted me and asked directly, “why did you marry your partner?”

I thought it was obvious, but in reading some of my past posts, I realize that I may have given a different signal.

Independence Day: Let’s Celebrate!

fireworks2Today marks my country’s 237 year since declaring its independence from Great Britain. We still love the Brits, though I wish they would learn to spell words without superfluous vowels. (giggle.)

This morning, I will celebrate what makes America great by attending a citizenship swearing-in ceremony in my state’s capital. For the past four months, I have tutored three hard-working people on United States civics, history, and government to prepare them to take the Citizenship test, the last step in the process of becoming a citizen of the United States.

Collector-Wearer and Collector-Displayer

Justinbrowndistressed03Someone contacted me recently to invite me to participate in a formal auction of celebrity memorabilia, including some cowboy boots worn by some stars (I’ve never heard of) who have appeared in movies. He found me by using an internet search engine and looking for results on “vintage cowboy boot collector.”

Imagine that? Search engines point to my website when searching for that phrase.

I also searched that phrase, and reaffirmed my personal thoughts that there are two types of boot collectors.

Riding Between Raindrops

Ride0630thumbI did manage to lead a motorcycle ride yesterday. The skies at times looked like it was going to pour, then the sun came out, then it misted a bit, then got sunny. Turned out to be a regular steam bath. But we had a great ride!
