Motorman Speaks

This post is a guest blog from a friend

Biker: Not!

I joined a charity motorcycle ride last Sunday. The ride is open to all — not just for Harley riders. But most of the motorcycles ridden to the event were Harleys. Anyway, I can’t say that some of these people will ever learn:

Escorted Ride

Went on a fundraising ride for a police charity today. The ride was escorted by our county’s finest. They stopped traffic on cross streets and at ramps on interstate highways so that our ride could proceed unimpeded. It is quite something to have the Capital Beltway to yourself!

Here are a few photos… great ride!

Events around this year’s Capital Pride have winnowed to three days — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the largest event on Sunday — the “Pride Festival.”

Obviously, since I forgot about it, you may wonder what my spouse and I think.

Social Expectations — and how this gay couple doesn’t meet them

My spouse and I are often invited to various parties, events, and activities. People in general enjoy socializing. I like it too. My spouse, however, does not.

For years now the “we” part of “me” will not attend social events. I should be accustomed to it, but it still is difficult to politely but routinely turn down invitation after invitation. Yep, as a gay couple, my spouse and I do not meet any form of expectations for socializing.
