Saturday December 13 was the pick of dates for holiday parties… one hosted by a colleague from work, three hosted by my large family, one at the neighbor’s, one at the fire house, and yet another at a local elected official’s home. Which one did we choose?

Motocross Boots on Motorcops?
I stumbled upon some images yesterday that blew away the standard perception of traditional (U.S.) motorcycle police boots with a uniform. A real-live motor officer, based in a town in California, began illustrating new boots that he is wearing, and what he thinks about “traditional” motorboots worn by most U.S. motor officers. I was taken aback.

How I Know The Spouse Is Feeling Better
My spouse has had an awful year in dealing with his ongoing battle with three persistent, chronic infections borne by a single tick bite. But by September, the worst of his symptoms had abated, and by November, except for ongoing severe joint pain, the other symptoms had gone into remission. He has not completely recovered, but at least he is stable and off the drugs.
I observe him closely. I can tell when he has had a bad day or is feeling generally okay. He will never tell me himself. But I know… this is how I know…

Two Days of Toil
I organized two very intense days of remodeling a home for a grandson of a senior pal of mine. This gentleman was severely injured during military service, and has returned to civilian status. He lives with his wife and daughters in a quiet, old neighborhood in the community/county where I live.

Voluntary Remodeling Contractor
Most of my loyal blog readers know that I do lots of home remodeling through voluntary efforts. I usually join groups who remodel homes for seniors to make their homes move livable and to accommodate their needs as they grow older.

This guy is the grandson of one of my dearest senior pals. She asked me if I would oversee a remodeling job for her grandson’s house three months ago.
It took a long time for all of the arrangements to come through, but yesterday and today, everything came into place.

Daily Boot Chatter
I have made it very clear that I wear boots every day while doing everything that I do. I wear them with nice clothes that I wear to work. I wear them even with suits on the rare occasions that I have to dress up. I wear motorcycle boots while riding my Harley — always — no silly unsafe sneakers for me! I even wear boots when I do my long vigorous walks — hikers. Again, sneakers? Bah, humbug!
It is amusing to me how many people know that I’m a regular and reliable “boot guy.” I catch them stealing glances, asking themselves and sometimes voicing the question, “what boots does he have on today?”

Two Million Miler
I received a letter in the mail yesterday from an airline frequent flier program advising me that I have achieved “two million mile” status, or permanent Gold status, with that airline’s frequent flier program.
Hmmm… wasn’t expecting that. Nice perk, especially considering…

Bonus Riding Days
Sunday and Monday of this week had rather unseasonal and pleasant weather. So what did this biker get to do?
