If I Had One Choice: Boots, Leather, or My Harley

Website02212015A friend of mine asked me, “if you had to make one choice… boots, leather, or your Harley,” which would it be?

As my website says, I’m a guy into boots, leather, and Harley(s). (I really only have one motorcycle, but that’s beside the point.)

So if I absolutely had to make a choice of one of these avocations, which would it be?

Motorcycle Boot Soles

Sole01I received an email the other day from a motorcycle rider who asked me about the soles on Boulet harness boots (shown here). He said:

I am concerned that the soles on these boots may cause a slip at stops or when trying to duck walk your bike in tight places, or to maneuver backing into a parking spot.

A Booted Man

Meride1In thinking about what to write as I restart my musings on this blog, I reflect on what inspired my website’s name … bootedman.com.

It is amusing to think back to 2004 when I was diligently cataloging my boot collection, taking low-res digital photos of my boots, and using a primitive HTML coding processor offered by my ISP at the time (my cable TV provider.) Boot Size: Manufacturers’ Dirty Little Secret

rp_Chipshine29.jpgI was communicating with someone the other day via email. The guy had concerns about the fit of Chippewa high-shine engineer boots (model 71418). He said that he bought a pair of the boots and that they caused severe, bleeding blisters and injuries on his toes. Through ongoing dialogue, he was blaming the steel toe and inflexibility of the boot’s foot to cause these problems. He asked more about fitting of the boots and differences in choosing larger, smaller, wider or medium-width sizing.

What I told him is a dirty little secret of boot manufacturers. Read on to learn what that secret is.

I was looking at my handy-dandy website statistical analyzer data the other day, and I was intrigued but not surprised that four boot brands are the most frequently searched brands that drive visitors to this blog and my website. Wanna take a guess what those top four “most searched” brands are?
