I have enjoyed conversations via email and phone with the President of Alberta Boot Company which is a family-owned bootmaker based in Calgary, Canada.

The Alberta Boot Company President contacted me when he found my Guide to Motorcycle Police Patrol Boots on an internet search.

Like others, I have seen and admired the Strathcona police patrol boot that this company makes, especially the “hi-brown” style worn by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. But I regret, until now, that I had not listed Alberta Boot Company on my Patrol Boot Guide. (That has been corrected.)

Through dialogue, I learned that the boots made by Alberta Boot Company…

…are made with very high-quality materials and construction techniques, with many labor-intensive steps taken by hand.

The company makes a few thousand pairs of boots each year, which is not a large number compared with volume-production bootmakers.

But what you get is a very high-quality product. The company makes cowboy boots as well, and from what I can see on their website, they have a variety of styles and designs to choose from.

It is possible to order custom-made or made-to-size boots at what I consider to be very reasonable prices. Especially these days when the value of the U.S. dollar is higher than the Canadian dollar, so those of us in the U.S. can get some great values on Canadian products.

You can order boots directly from Alberta Boot Company or if in Calgary, stop by their shop/store. I’d love to do that sometime, myself. Meanwhile, I have a pair of boots on order… can’t wait to get them.
