Final Alaska Work Trip

I have been rather quiet on this blog for two reasons: 1) the usual “I’ve run out of ideas to write about” and 2) very busy wrapping things up at work before I retire.

Today, however, I am in Alaska. Why?

… work, of course. I have even been offered a job here, but I am unwilling to relocate. I like the people I work with here a lot, but not the extremes of daylight and weather. As I write this, it is 0C with about -1000 wind chill. Brrrr!

Also, I must consider The Spouse. He would not enjoy living here. Trust me on that one. It takes a lot of getting used to. Nice place, great people, fascinating scenery and wildlife, but not quite our preferences for living.

Anyway, I will be very busy today and tomorrow for a brief but important visit and “brain dump,” as well as have opportunities to say goodbye to colleagues I have known and worked with for many years. I’m really going to miss them.

Life is short: love what you do, even if time is limited.

  1. That is another example of “Nice place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live here”. By the way BHD, do you have a date set for your retirement?

    • My official retirement date is January 4, 2020, but the last day in the office for work will be Friday the 13th (of December.)

  2. It’s coming up in the next couple of months. Will you be blogging more once you retire?

    • My rate of blogging is directly related to having fresh content. Having been writing this blog since January, 2008, fresh content is hard to come up with.
