Today, I am delighted that I have the best Christmas present ever… under my covers, not the tree.
I have frequently said that I am a man of deep faith. I feel it; I just know it.
From October 2013 and through most of 2014, my husband has been severely ill. A nasty infection, borne by a single tick bite, with two co-infection complications, relapsed him into a horrid, terrifying, agonizing roller coaster of torture. These illnesses made last Christmas a nightmare.
I leaned on my loving family and caring network of friends for strength. I called on my faith to provide me the persistence, patience, and fortitude to pursue medical treatments from doctors, and caregiving to alleviate suffering, so that my beloved spouse would beat back those infections into remission.
This year, the best Christmas present that I have ever received is not a “thing.” Not a new pair of boots, a new Harley, new leathers, or any of that stuff. I have my spouse back!
Merry Christmas, everyone!Life is short: show those you love how you love them, each and every day.
