Dehner Boots At Work

Dehner Booted…
Dehnerbalstock218Got these bad boys out again recently, cleaned them up and gave them a shine. While they have their faults (plastic shaft), these stock Dehner bal-laced patrol boots remain very comfortable.

With all the Dehner boots I have worn over the years, I learned…

…that:

  • ordering them with the one-inch extra calf circumference improves the fit, and dress slacks still slide over them just fine.
  • ordering them one full size larger (longer) — 11D instead of my usual 10D — also significantly improves the fit. That also allows for insertion of a better cushion insole to improve comfort.
  • training the ankle before wearing them is essential.

I wore these boots to work yesterday. Black dress slacks over them. They look like dress shoes, especially with the laces showing where the pants leg meets the foot of the boot. But you can feel them on your legs… you know you have substantial boots on!

Besides going to meetings all day, I had to greet a group from an elementary school.

Anyone say anything about the boots?

Nope … not even the kids who were sitting on the floor at boot level.

Life is short: wear boots, including to work even if you’re not a cop!

  1. I like those boots. They are what I think of first when someone mentions motorcop clothing and it took a long while for me to accept that these are not the only style of boot worn by motor officers. I’m mildly surprised these would work with dress pants, but you pulled it off and I believe you could teach even Joan Rivers a thing or two.

    • I appreciate your comments and humor, Bill. But Joan Rivers? Eee-gads, man, what an ugly sight! Seeing her in person would scare me to death!

  2. Now, now, BHD. Can we talk? I do give her credit for some serious commentary cloaked in humor about what ‘celebrities’ walk around wearing. As far as I know, she was the first to have a ‘red carpet show’ about what was being worn at awards shows.

As for you being scared, well I doubt that. Anyone who can stand up in front of a high school auditorium and talk about his life from when he was in high school there or anywhere else, how he’s changed and do that talk with someone who was his prime high school-era tormentor can’t be scared of very much. Standing up in public like that, well to me, THAT’S scary!

  3. Hi BHD
Good to see you wearing Dehners so confidently and showing the public what is comfortable and attractive to wear. Glad you inspire others to wear boots too and enjoy the feeling and comfort of wearing boots –
Thanks for posting your welcome photos and messages.
