Some readers have asked me to show what it looks like from the view of a biker during a group ride. We all wear proper protective gear, including a DOT-approved helmet and motorcycle boots. I enjoy riding with safety-minded riders.
Here are some photos that a friend took while we were riding this past Sunday. Early Spring in Maryland’s rural farm country makes for pleasurable and relaxing views along the highway as we glide along peacefully…. More photos below.

From the photos posted above, it looks as if you and your riding buddies had a good time and a great ride. Not a flip-flop in sight. But what is the difference between a regular run of the mill river and a ‘scenic’ river anyway? I think all rivers are scenic, don’t you? Or is there something particularly ‘scenic’ about the Monocacy that makes it special?
Bill, I always enjoy your humor. But to answer your direct question — a scenic river is a specific designation, explained here. The Monocacy River has much historical significance in both the settlement of the State of Maryland as well as the Civil War.
