Day 2: Meetings and Surprise!

This morning as the roosters on the beach outside my hotel woke me with incessant “cock-a-doodle-doos,” I rose with a smile. I dressed and took a long walk (barefooted) on the beach. While today, this week, and this month I am still…

…working, it will not be long before my beloved Spouse and I will be on a similar beach in the same geographic area of the world.

My work day began at 0755 and ended at 1700 with few breaks. Meetings were intense, but productive and successful. I feel proud of the accomplishments we achieved that will have a profound, prolonged, and hopefully helpful effect long after I am gone (from this job — not the world!)

My day ended by having a surprise and delightful reunion with a friend I’ve known since high school. My friend and his wife retired a couple years ago, sold their house, bought a huge catamaran, and are sailing the Atlantic, living aboard ship. I am more than impressed.

This isn’t something that Spouse and I would do. I can barely get him to go on a boat trip. He doesn’t like sailing or swimming. But… soon enough, we will (proverbially) set sail on the next chapter of our lives once I retire, coming to a BHD near you at the end of December with views like this (for travel we have planned):

Life is short: enjoy what you do and keep your friends for life!
