Today is Spouse’s birthday! Yay! Another trip around the sun!
How will we celebrate?
Since I have the day off today from work (Veteran’s Day Observed), I will wait until he awakes, then warmly greet him … have a warm snuggle, quietly observing the sunrise.
I will prepare his favorite breakfast, then get busy making his favorite lemon meringue pie (from scratch with gluten-free ingredients) for later.
I am also in the middle of serving as a general contractor on a major home remodeling project for a wounded warrior — but that project will take at least another week and is being worked on by pros, so I do not have to be there all day every day. I’ll check in on progress, but return home quickly.
In the afternoon, off we go to another highly specialized medical appointment on the other side of town. I just got my visa renewed to cross the border into Virginia.
After the thrill of slogging through traffic wears off and we return home, I will prepare his favorite meal for dinner. Then we will hold hands and read to each other for the rest of the night.
I know this sounds rather boring. No balloons, no fanfare, no party — goes with the Spouse’s general preference to be his usual reclusive self. He really dislikes being around people.
But this one “people” — me — will do everything he can to make Spouse’s day the best it can be, as he wants it.
Life is short: show those you love how you love them.
