Post 2544, Continuing

So this is post 2,544 for this blog… not bad considering that according to a study of blogs by a leading social media research firm that most people who write blogs do so for an average of 15 months and post an average of 50 posts before they lose interest. Tell ya’ the honest truth, it is hard to keep a blog going.

Apologies… my post-counter got wacko for a bit, and at first when I wrote this post I thought the counter said that this was post 1,800. But then I refreshed the counter and found that this is actually post 2,544. Rather than delete what I wrote, I kept it as if this were another 100 milestone. Read on.

100 blog posts ago was…

…the middle of July, about six months ago. I usually try, but have not been keeping the pace, to post a new blog about every two days. However, during the period from July to now, I took three significant breaks:

a) When the United States lost its mind on November 8 and put someone in the office of the Presidency who is completely unhinged. He has selected destroyers-of-the-earth, bigots and boneheads for his cabinet. His sole intention of making these selections is to pick those who would be best at ruining decades of progress in stewardship of the environment and social justice. As a citizen of this country, I am ashamed and still angry about this mess. I apologize to the world for the next insane four years. I have nothing to do with it but continue to support those who will do the right thing in the face of adversity.

b) When I spent a dark week in Pittsburgh for Christmas, caring for the mother-in-law. She is sad, lonely, and hard to care for, but we do what we have to do.

c) When I ran a week of meetings on the left Coast. I just did not have time to breathe, much less keep up a blog.

Now, moving forward, as what may be an early Spring approaches, I will continue to keep up this blog, and try, at least, to continue to write about boots, leather, and living a lifestyle of integrity, honesty, and financial responsibility as a masculine gay man in love with his mate of almost 24 years and whose partner had the love and compassion in his heart to marry me.

I will try to avoid taking extended “blog breaks”, as I notice a significant drop-off in visits occurring and it taking weeks to rebuild the following. I understand that… why visit a blog that has gone inactive?

I have two significant, distant business trips coming up… but again, I will try to keep the blog going even when far away from home.

Also, the Spouse will likely have some major surgery, though he is unsure quite when he will schedule it. All based on doctors’ evaluation and second, third, and fourth opinions. Spouse does a lot of research before making such a huge commitment, and I don’t blame him. But whenever that happens, my laser-like focus will be on his care, comfort, and safety.

Thank you, loyal visitors of this blog for continuing to visit and putting up with my random flow of thoughts through my musings. Never did I realize in January 2008 when I started writing this blog how it would continue to be published and how it would chronicle my life and times, the good and the bad, the job changes, our marriage, the Spouse’s health trials and travails, community caring and direct engagement, and (of course) discussion and reviews about boots, leather gear, and motorcycle riding.

Life is short: keep blogging!
