Suited Harleydude

Suitboots1Bleccchhh… three days this week I’ve been confined to the monkey suit… yep, a full-on dress suit. Jacket, shirt & tie, dress slacks, and on my feet…

… I am still “Booted” but perhaps, at least this week, the “Harley” gets temporarily removed from the “dude?” I say that only because it has rained every day for the last two weeks. Not much total precipitation, but enough to make the roads slick and thus unsuitable for riding my Harley for my daily commute.

I guess then for this week, my temporary moniker is “Suited Booted Cagedude.” Hmmmm… I don’t like it (and neither should you.)

Why so much suit-and-tie? Meetings, briefings, and more meetings with upper muckity-mucks where I work and with the parent agency of my agency. And with muckity-mucks in Washington, DC. Lots of muckity-mucks in my life this week.

This post really isn’t a whine as much as it sounds. While I do not like to dress up, especially in suits, I am grateful to have a good job and realize that sometimes wearing a suit is my required uniform-of-the-day. I don’t have to “like” wearing suits, but I put up with it because I like what I do for a living and feel respected for my knowledge and capabilities. Fa cosí sia.

What boots am I wearing under my suit pants?

Tuesday: Brown Lucchese hornback caiman tail with dark brown slacks, cream shirt, brown/tan striped tie, navy blazer.

Wednesday: Black Lucchese square-toe caiman tail with navy slacks, medium blue shirt, wine (purple-ish) tie, dark grey jacket.

Thursday: Black goatskin Lucchese Classics with black slacks, white shirt, blue tie, navy blazer.

Yep… navy blazer worn more often than the grey jacket. I own only two jackets because because I find them hard to wear; difficult and stuffy. I am just not a fussbudget dress-up kind of guy.

So by description of what I was wearing, I guess a prickly person would say that I was not, technically, wearing a suit. But that kind of get-up is, in my opinion, my version of a suit — or as suited as I will be.

Yay for Friday — no meetings, no muckity-mucks. Dress down Denim Friday!

Life is short: wear dress boots with dress clothes!

  1. You have a nice selection of boots to wear with your suits and they do look much better than dress shoes.
I really like the Legendary boots at the bottom of the page. Did you ever get use to wearing the heels or have them changed?

I had the same problem you experienced once when I bought a pair of boat shoes to wear with shorts. Going from my normal boot heels to the flat boat shoes made my calves hurt like hell the next day.

    • Thanks for your comment, Greg. I appreciate your question about the heel height on my Legendary Cowboy Boots. No, I have not adjusted to the heel height, and I have not changed the heels. I wear those boots occasionally — mostly when I do not have to walk up and down steps where I could easily trip. Thanks for asking.
