Today, Monday October 12, is a lesser-known U.S. Federal Holiday, and I have the day off from work.
I spent the day booted in six pairs of boots (so far). They were/are:
…rose before dawn, tied on my Chippewa hikers and went for a long walk (about eight miles) with my walking partner. I felt invigorated!
Returned about 0700, quickly showered, then hopped bootless into bed to snuggle with my spouse.
We lay there a whole hour, talking about life, his Mom, our love, the house, things going on at work (for me) and with his studies. Just about everything. I so miss having my best half by my side when he spends weeks with his mother.
I got up and decided to pull on a pair of jeans, Justin cowboy boots, and made breakfast for my spouse.
By 9am, it was time to chase cats… that is, my senior pals. I usually take them grocery shopping on weekends, but I was away for the past two weekends, so I arranged to take them today.
Those Justin boots were getting a bit sore, so before I left, I switched boots to my Lucchese brown inlay cowboy boots. Why? Because they looked unworn for a while. 🙂
I completed shopping with one trio of elderly cats, and took a second quadruple for their turn.
I was home by noon. Pulled off those boots and pulled on Chippewa loggers while I repaired the grill. Then I grilled some burgers for lunch for my spouse and myself on a gorgeous autumn afternoon.
The spouse suggested that I go for a motorcycle ride since it was such a nice day. Okay — absolutely!
I changed to my Chippewa Firefighter boots and rode down to the fire station. Our Fall “Senior Safety Saturday” is coming up this coming Saturday, so it was good to stop by and check out final plans.
I returned home by 1600 and took a conference call with four colleagues with whom I am presenting at a major conference in November. We rehearsed our session and I felt better after the rehearsal.
Dinner time — on with another pair of boots! Hmmm… tan Chippewa cowboy/work boots fit the bill. Why? They looked unworn and lonely, that’s why!
Grilled steaks to go with baked potatoes and a fresh garden salad. Yummo!
After dinner, I stripped my spouse and attended to …
… some medical issues that he is still having. Do what needs to be done as a caregiver/spouse does. He also cared for me when he noticed three huge big red and puss-filled welts on my abdomen. I must have gotten bitten by spiders in the shed of the fire house where we are storing supplies. Yuck! I hate spiders. Cleaned up… I’m okay.
After dinner, I will relax bootless in the arms of my man, then hit the sack early ’cause I rise for work in the morning at 0400!
Life is short: wear boots wherever you go!
