Finished Mobile-Friendlidizing Bootedman.com

Wow, I never really realized how many of the viewers of my website, bootedman.com visit the site using a mobile device. Recent statistics reveal that 91% of the visitors to my site access it using some type of mobile devices — mostly smartphones, but also a lot of tablets.Viewers08072015While the spouse has been taking care of his mother in her home this week…

…instead of watching the boob tube, I spent hours finally fixing each page on my website to make the pages more mobile-friendly.

I still have more work to do, especially on the home page and main index pages about my motorcycle boots, cowboy boots, work boots, and my motorcycle gear. The code for those index pages is set up differently, and I need to learn more about how to adjust those pages to create a mobile-specific set of such pages. I may or may not get around to that. I’ve seen those pages on mobile devices, and they seem to display okay.

But the individual pages about my boots and gear all have been revised to fit the criteria put forth by the all-mighty Google.

I have been reticent to make “mobile-friendly” code changes to the pages on my website mostly because I detest smartphones so much and don’t want one. My spouse got one before he went to Pittsburgh and I spent hours and hours with it while I was with him a week ago. Uggghh… I hated it. So hard to use, writing on it was unbearable, and many other things about it we just can’t stand, so my spouse instructed me to return it when I got back from Pittsburgh. Fortunately, we only subscribed for a 30-day trial period, so we could cancel without a penalty and only pay for one-month’s service.

But if 91% of all viewers of my website access it with a mobile device, then I can’t ignore reality any more.

Enjoy your mobile device. I’ll enjoy continuing to pocket the cash NOT spent on the monthly data plan ransom and cost of the device — and buy some more boots instead 🙂

Life is short: face reality, but still cherish your inner dinosaur.
