I swear, I can’t make this stuff up. Following is a message that I received yesterday. I copied it exactly as sent to me–bad grammar & spelling and all. Read it, then tell me what you would do.
I am personally pattern master and designer of leather and cordur garment and have 28 years of experarance.
We are a Pakistan based Leather Garments and Leather Goods manufacturing company. We have our competency in producing the fashion leather jackets, (specially in washed leather) Leather Motorbike Suits, Leather Motorbike Jackets, Leather Gloves and different kinds of Leather Goods. Our company XXX is based on experienced technical staff and we are producing leather garments and goods from last many years.
(There was more, but you get the gist. That explains why, however, I have a 1000-character limit on my “write to me” page, because these people drop in a lot of useless pre-written and pre-translated stuff into their messages that they send to me to try to convince me to buy their junk.)
Thus is the risk of having website where I display my boot collection and leather gear. Aggressive Pakistanis routinely find it and send me messages like this about two or three times each month. I have written about these aggressive pushy vendors before.
Suffice it to say, if these people could read English and search this blog, they would know that I strongly dissuade anyone from considering buying leather from Pakistan. The quality of Pakistani leather garments is poor, the construction varies from fair to awful, and overall, the outcome is not worth the cost savings compared with a U.S., Canada, Australia, Argentina, or Italy-sourced product.
If you want good quality leather gear for bikers, my current go-to-favorite include Fox Creek Leather. Good quality fetish leather? I recommend Mr. S. Leather, 665 Leather, Northbound Leather or CJ’s Leather. Sorry, can’t recommend Pakistani importers including Jammin’ Leather, LeatherUp, SouthBeach Leather, or similar retailers.
If you see a leather product on the internet that you like, and the price is attractive (i.e., “cheap”), then ASK the source of the product before buying it. “Buyer Beware” applies.
Meanwhile, I just shake my head and say, “there they go again,” then hit the delete key.
Life is short: accept risk and delete it.
