Career I Should Have

The other day, I played an on-line game titled, “what career should you have?” It asked questions about preferences, giving five choices for each one. For example, “Do you want to be in charge of others?” and “what would you buy with a holiday bonus?” A total of 10 questions predicts what career you “should” have.

What did it suggest for me?

Firefighter… “You are a very strong person, quick on your feet, fast thinker and the owner of a very big, brave heart. You accomplish great things, but are always very modest about it. You were meant to save other people’s lives.”

I enjoyed the description that it came up with, and I felt it was accurate. However, my chosen career is not a firefighter. What I do for a living is related to that field, and I am an honorary life member of my local fire department in recognition for a long tradition of voluntarism with that department.

I thought this was amusing. I’m not going to change jobs, though I definitely appreciate what firefighters do and how big their hearts are.

Life is short: enjoy what you do!
