I know the blogging has been off schedule… sorry loyal readers for such haphazarditiness. (I love to make up words that are not real words, but native speakers of English can figure them out.)
Since December, the Spouse has had an average of two doctor’s visits each week. He is not well. Not seriously sick, but not well. Ongoing visits to specialists, dentist, and related errands to the pharmacy, etc., occupy a …
…great deal of my time. He cannot/will not drive himself, so I continue to take off work for a few hours here, a few hours there to drive him all over the area for these visits.
This is what I do… you know, the ol’ marriage vow coming to life, “cherish and care for you in sickness and in health…”.
Mundane life continues outside the regular husbacare while I am working full-time in a demanding but rewarding position, carrying out my civic duties as an engaged volunteer civic leader, taking my lovely LOLITS grocery shopping, and carving out a few hours to visit my family with short and oddly-timed “pop-in” visits.
It is all a natural performance of juggling time and making priorities for what’s important in my life. To care, to engage, to love… but perhaps not enough time for my hobbies such as home renovations, riding my Harley, tweaking the boots & leather website with some new photos, or writing for this blog.
My family has been concerned about my not taking any time for me to relax or do anything for fun. So I am planning an adventure — a one-day thrill to take advantage of sights, sounds, and an opportunity few have. I have made all of the arrangements; secured reservations on 3 flights and hotels and on-ground wheels. Five weeks from today, out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean… can’t wait.
‘nuf about that. Time to get busy again with what keeps my love focused and grounded here at home.
Life is short: windows of opportunity present adventures to look forward to.
