Up Bear and Back

Not much time to post… but we’re back to routine, finally.

How was our routine out of whack? And what did we do to whack it back?

The mother-in-law was visiting at our home this week. By Wednesday evening, after she had four nights of poor sleep and was feeling generally being out of sorts because she was not at home, we mutually decided that it was time for her to return home to Pittsburgh.

So Thursday morning, we packed her up. I am happy to say, “we,” in the sense that for the first time in 18 months, my spouse was well enough to ride with me on that long, boring, five-hour drive.

When we arrived in her little suburb, we ran some errands, got her a flu shot, and then went to her house. I did some ongoing and routine household maintenance, prepared dinner, watched a movie on TV, then went to bed too late (2130!)

Friday morning, I drove back home. It was great to have my spouse with me. We talked about everything and anything.

We tried to stop a couple times for my spouse to stretch, but his hip had locked up and he was so stiff, he literally couldn’t get out of the car. So I just drove home.

When we arrived at home, I helped him out of the car and into the house. I got some OTC pain med for him, which helped.

If/when my spouse has 90 days free of symptoms of his illnesses (we’re at Day 37!)… we can talk to an orthopedist about his hip situation. But one thing at a time.

Glad to be back home and return our household to its usual quiet and comfortable disorder 🙂

Life is short: enjoy return of routine!
