My loyal blog followers know that last autumn, I was promoted into a management position. Commensurate with my new job, which involves serving as the Executive Officer for a major division of my employing organization, I supervise people and now wear the clothing of management — dress slacks, shirt & tie, shined… boots.
Well, until now. Starting today, the footwear is changing.
We all know that to work in management and lead people, one must dress the part — including his choice of footwear. No more the days of wearing boots with suits or dress clothing. After all, we all know that professional men don’t wear cowboy boots to work. Cowboy boots are for weekends, if any time. But not for work.
Considering that it is officially Spring, I looked at the new footwear lineup by Lucchese — one of my favorite boot manufacturers. With Luccese’s new linup, gone are the days of custom toes, heels and soles and all boots are specific to the design they have. Not only that, they now have a dress shoe business with a line of oxfords, loafers, and dressy chukka boots.
These new Lucchese dress shoes are made it Italy, too! This is great news, as no fashion-oriented man wants to wear plain old USA-made footwear.
And the prices! Wow! The dress shoes are about $200 less per pair than the MSRP for Lucchese Classic boots that once were a frequent choice for my daily footwear. Yep, you got that right — just a measly $625 for fashion Lucchese shoes! What a deal!!!
So what fashion Lucchese men’s footwear did I choose?
Cool, eh? They will be perfect with my light-colored Spring suits.
Ooops… something is wrong with my keyboard…

If you believed for a second that I have actually purchased and am wearing this footwear, then you have been pranked for April Fools Day! Ha ha — gotcha!
This blog and my followers know me too well. Y’all won’t let me even *think* about this disaster. Lucchese has gone over the edge to oblivion. Lost their minds, as well as their core business — American cowboy BOOTmaking. Okay, Salvatore and Giuseppe (Joseph) Lucchese, the founder of Lucchese Boots, immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1882 and opened their first boot manufacturing shop in San Antonio, Texas, in 1883 — but their business — core business — is B-O-O-T-S, not waaaaay overpriced fashion crap.
Listen up, guys, men wear BOOTS … to the office, to church, around town … with dress clothes, suits, khakis, as well as jeans and casual clothing.
While the information presented on this blog are my own personal opinions, and are written as a review, I know these sentiments are shared by others. Thanks to Sam from South Dakota for bringing this “Lucchese disaster” to my attention.
Now, guys, go get some real cowboy boots from Justin, Dan Post, Tony Lama, Boulet, Nocona… vote with your feet.
Life is short: wear American-made boots!
I figured as much as soon as I read the title of your post… 🙂
Spoiler! Fortunately, comments are at the bottom of the post.
Can you believe it? Lucchese has become absurdly nuts.
You had me worried, until I saw the photo of that hideous shoe. 😉 Thanks for the laugh!
OK, I’ll admit it, you got me. I’m only just now picking myself up from the floor after reading this post. Just for that, I’m sending you a pair of Harley-Davidson flip-flops – filled with coal – for Christmas.
Touché, BHD, touché.
You had me until Lucchese 🙂
