Forgotten Boots, Part 3

Completing this series of related posts on this blog, I am posting about a discovery of three pairs of boots that my partner found in our attic, which had been stored there since we moved to our house in 1998, and long forgotten. Two pairs of Wesco boots were found among a cobra…

Cobra? Yep, that’s what I said — a pair of really cool-looking Tony Lama cowboy boots made with cobra (snake) skin on the feet. I think I remember buying them in Oklahoma, during one of my many visits to my family who live there. I dated the entry on my inventory “1980.” That’s about right, or about as good as any other guess. I know that I have owned them for a long time.

The boots are in very good shape, considering that they were stored in a box in an attic and subjected to heat that gets rather intense during summer.

I am pleased that the boots still fit me. Perhaps a little tightly, but they fit, so I’m keeping them. I just added them to my cowboy boot collection. More photos of these boots are on my website.

Life is short: wear boots!

  1. Make sure you condition them about once a week for at least a month. Then after that, maybe once a month. I use Reptile Boot Conditioner only on the Snake skin. A lighter color of wax for the shafts. I had a pair of Tony Lama Snake that had sat in my closet from 1998 to 2012. Broke them out, conditioned them once a week, and wore them ;asking myself -why had I ever stopped wearing my various boots from my small collection? Since then I’ve doubled my inventory, adding 2 more pair of Snake skin boots! I learned- be patient and you will receive those backordered boots you want!!
