I had a very productive yet intense work trip all last week in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since I was running the show, I had no time to write anything for this blog.
I regret, though, not combining this trip with another motorcycle ride. However, I was warned…
… a few years ago that late August is a time when the monsoon in the desert southwest USA is at peak, meaning that there are frequent heavy thunderstorms.
Having survived riding through a monsoon on my Crazy-Awesome Motorcycle Adventure in Utah, I did not want to repeat that.
But my weather forecasting buddies who know about Utah weather were wrong this year. It did not rain a drop for the last couple weeks.
Oh well… I’ll do a Northern Arizona/Southern Utah ride again with my buddy “S”… sometime next year. If it kills me. (I hope not!)
Took a red-eye flight home Friday night and arrived Saturday morning. Had breakfast, then lay down with the spouse on our bed and quickly fell asleep in his arms. I did not sleep on the plane much. (I have to remember to bring silencing headphones; I forgot this time and the snoring and “people noise” kept me awake.)
I got out on my Harley on Sunday for a little bit. Man, it was great to ride my Iron Horse again. Weather was super fantastic.
Wore my new Chippewa Firefighter Boots and got several “nice boots” compliments at the fire house when I stopped by to pick up my mail and drop off a meeting agenda.
I returned home rather soon after that as I started feeling a cold coming on. Other people at my meeting last week had a cold, and with as run down as I was from being so busy, plus with traveling by air in a germ tube (aka airplane)… no wonder.
I have to recover soon… another business trip to two states on the Left Coast is coming up in a week.
Life is short: keep on keepin’ on!
