Yesterday, I had to get to work extra early … had a response requirement. That happens sometimes and is the nature of my job.<\/p>\n
I had time to check the weather forecast… the day would be partly sunny, no rain, and it was above freezing. <\/p>\n
So this biker pulled on his…

\n…Tall, recently cleaned and shined, lug-soled Chippewa Hi-Shine engineer boots, wool slacks, dress shirt, gray leather tie… <\/p>\n
… went out to the garage, moved my truck and the spouse’s car out to the driveway, and put on my thick leather chaps, Langlitz Jacket, warm gloves, and full-face helmet…<\/p>\n
… mounted his trusted iron horse, and took off. Soon enough, I was in the garage under my building, safely parked.<\/p>\n
I walked into my building, leather clad as I was. I was going to leave my chaps and jacket in the office.<\/p>\n
I signed in with Security and then heard someone else behind me. Who was it? My boss and his boss… this was a big deal event.<\/p>\n
The bosses (plural) looked me up and down. My boss said, “I knew you were a biker. You dressed for the weather this morning, didn’t you?” Then he laughed, his boss laughed, and I said, “yep. Layers keep me warm, and the leather protects me as well as keeps my dress clothes clean.”<\/p>\n
My boss and I got off the elevator at our floor, and I went into my office and quickly took off the chaps and jacket — and hung them up. The boss came to my door and said, “let’s go to (a meeting room).”<\/p>\n
Off we went.<\/p>\n
We arrived at a meeting at an incredibly early hour — 0500. My boss’ boss looked at me again, and said, “nice touch of leather, again” — admiring my leather tie.<\/p>\n
The boss said, “don’t forget the boots!” and pointed to my feet.<\/p>\n
Then the boss’ boss said, “okay, let’s get to work” and began the meeting.<\/p>\n
That was it… the whole day through… busy busy busy, but no more comments about the biker attire in the office. We had real work to do!<\/p>\n
