I’ve always thought that “they” (you know, the proverbial powers-that-decide-these-things) that weekends and weeks should be reversed. That is, exchange five days off for two, and only work two days instead of five. How’s that?<\/p>\n
Man, IF I had five days for a weekend…

\nI would get so much more done. This past weekend, like most others, were crammed. I inspected a rental house after it was vacated by the previous tenant first thing on Saturday morning. Fortunately, that tenant (a firefighter) left it in very good shape, so I only had to spend a few hours tidying up, changing the locks, and a few other minor things.<\/p>\n
I spent most of Saturday afternoon doing work on my home … where else? The kitchen. Partner has a non-ending list of required tasks in the kitchen remodeling. Now we are refacing the cabinets. There is a lot of work involved in that … but also a lot of power tools (I love<\/i> power tools! LOL!)<\/p>\n
Between those tasks, I also power-washed all 990 square feet of our three decks. Kinda fun to do on a hot afternoon.<\/p>\n
Oh, even though the kitchen is under renovation, I still do my own cooking. So preparation of pasta sauce with about a bushel of tomatoes from our own garden also got done… somehow… somewhere… sometime. Good that I’m still able to multi-task (and sorry that my partner’s illness fatigues him so much that he can’t help with most of these activities.)<\/p>\n
Sunday before dawn, I nestled closely to my partner and just snuggled. So busy for the weekend, it’s rough having to “schedule” some personal time, but these predawn snuggles mean a lot to both of us. Then as the skies brightened, I bounded out of bed, got dressed in jeans and work boots, and headed out to the home supplies store the moment it opened at 7am. (Get this: I really am weird. No coffee. I am just a boundless bundle of energy in the morning and don’t need the caffeine. I know… crazy, huh?) <\/p>\n
Got a bunch of stuff. Took it all home, then changed (to dressier clothing and a nice pair of well-shined Lucchese Classic cowboy boots) and took 3 senior pals to church at 8am. After that, returned home and changed again back into my grubby work gear and comfy old Timberland work boots.<\/p>\n
Did several small repairs in that rental property of mine … check.
\nReplaced a faulty light switch for senior pal Emma … check.
\nReplaced a sticky drawer slide for senior pal Sal … check.
\nReplaced two furnace filtration contraptions for senior pal Ann … check.
\nReplaced a GFI outlet that kept “popping” for senior pal Ruth … check.<\/p>\n
Came home, fed the partner (and myself) some lunch … check.<\/p>\n
Then continued with the kitchen cabinet refacing project … no “check” as this will continue for several weeks.<\/p>\n
Prepared a lasagne with that sauce I made yesterday … check. (Will keep for several servings for the upcoming week.)<\/p>\n
Attended two birthday parties (for a little while) of two different great nieces. Always good to see the fam, however briefly.<\/p>\n
Had a loooong visit by phone with a sister whose birthday was Saturday. I just love her to pieces. Though we live far apart, I feel that she’s sitting right with me as our conversation began where it left off, as if it were yesterday when we last spoke (more like a month ago.)<\/p>\n
Fed the partner (and me) lasagne and a salad for dinner. Yum!<\/p>\n
Worked on more of that kitchen cabinet refacing after dinner … still no “check.” Drat. But more progress anyway.<\/p>\n
Collapsed at 8:30pm … check. <\/p>\n
What to do today? More of the same! Weather is lousy, so no riding of the Harley. But many smiles with my senior pals, caring for my partner, fixin’ up ‘da place, etc. No rest for the weary!<\/p>\n
