\n…a number of things, including what to do with the house that they jointly inherited upon the death of their mother, the house’s contents, and much more. <\/p>\n
My role is mostly being a dispassionate adviser, negotiator with the attorney, and serve as an ultra-organized supporter. <\/p>\n
Need a copy of the house deed? Here it is.<\/p>\n
Need to know the amounts of money in each bank account on the date of death? Voila… an accounting to the penny.<\/p>\n
Need to know the assessed value of the house? Comps or county or borough? I’ve got ’em all.<\/p>\n
When were taxes on the property paid? County, school, and borough on X, Y, and Z dates, respectively.<\/p>\n
How many copies of the short certificate are needed? 10. One for the attorney, one for R, S, T, U, V, X, Y, Z, and one extra, just in case.<\/p>\n
What accounts are to be marshaled? Well, there is the account at A, also at B, then there’s C, and D. Don’t forget about the utilities. Here are the contact numbers, addresses, etc. for all of them<\/em>. <\/p>\n I have already done most of the marshaling. Thanks anyway, Attorney B, that’s done. What’s next? Here’s a list…. do your attorney stuff, we’ll handle the rest.<\/p>\n And so it goes. I’ve been there, done that with some close loved-ones. Nice that The Spouse and his sister trust that I have their best interests in mind.<\/p>\n This is what I do… organize with love, attention, and thoughtful care.
