Spouse and I had a peaceful trip to Pittsburgh this past week. His mother died on Sunday after a long, long decline in health, but no disease such as cancer or heart disease. \n…support the Spouse during an emotional time. It is hard when a mother dies, especially if you were the primary caregiver during her last 10 years of life.<\/p>\n
Not that his sister didn’t try to help, but she was further away, and could only visit once a year, while Spouse and I visited more frequently.<\/p>\n
The funeral was peaceful and worked out as planned.<\/p>\n
The post-funeral visit with my sister-in-law was something that Spouse was worried about, but that conversation and “going through things” at the house went exceptionally well. Perhaps some of my communication skills helped. (so sez the Spouse, anyway.)<\/p>\n
Spouse has not really grieved yet… but he will in his own way on his own time.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, we have returned to our home and have begun getting back to our usual routine. We will return to Pittsburgh to deal with the estate matters and the attorney later.<\/p>\n
