\"\"I strive to lead a gentle life and be kind. That has been my guiding principle or “life value” as long as I can remember. Even before I remember learning what kindness was, my family told me that I just was. Kind.<\/p>\n

Here are some thoughts from personal insights and reflection…

\nFrom a blog (Connecting People to The LOVE that Heals) that I stumbled on by Danielle Burnock:<\/p>\n

* Kindness is the quality of being gentle, caring and helpful.
\n* Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
\nYou could say that being friendly and considerate is being nice but kindness is more. Kindness is generous.<\/p>\n

Kindness isn\u2019t something you’re generous with. Kindness IS inherently generous. To be<\/em> kind is to be<\/em> generous.<\/p>\n

Kindness (as well as generosity) is defined as a quality of being.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While I did not write these words myself, I have heard them before. From my parents and from important people in my life, like my mentor Maude.<\/p>\n

I do not set out each day to “be” kind, or think, “what can I do to be kind today.” <\/p>\n

Being gentle, caring, helpful, friendly, generous, and considerate is how I was raised to be. My parents set the example, and all of us kids learned that the quality of being kind was highly valued. We were rewarded with a smile and affection from our parents when we were kind (to each other and to others.)<\/p>\n

Trust me, as a child of a family of 15, being kind to one another was sometimes quite challenging! But I digress….<\/p>\n

Being kind is just who I am. I don’t try to be… I just am.<\/p>\n

Wouldn’t the world be a nicer place if we were kinder to one another? Think about it. Stop. Reflect. Act.<\/p>\n
