When I arrived home from work on April 25, the Spouse greeted me with a “happy anniversary!” <\/p>\n

I had a very busy and distracted day, and had a lapse of memory. Wow… we met 25 years ago on April 25, 1993. Who woulda thunk that we would build a life of love and commitment as it has turned out to be. (Here is a post on this blog about the day we met<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

We hugged, and sat down to reminisce a bit. <\/p>\n

Fast-forward to the present day, when…
\n
\n…the Spouse had three major doctor’s appointments this week that I had to leave work early to go home, pick him up, and drive him to see these doctors. <\/p>\n

\"\"Then we prepared for a trip to Pittsburgh to see the mother-in-law and drag her to see her doctor. (Let’s say that she really, really did not want to go.)<\/p>\n

After the trauma of that doctor’s appointment — resulting in no action other than a lecture that she has to eat better — we brought her back home. We lit candles for a birthday cake to quietly celebrate her 90th birthday.<\/p>\n

Such is our life now, 25 years later. Firmly fixed in our life together, and caregiving that is necessary for his mother. Caring for her is challenging, but as I said, it’s what we do.<\/p>\n
