I had a spectacular ride with my cousin on Saturday — some 200+ miles (322+ km) of smiles and only one (count ’em) U-turn! The sun was bright and the Maryland sweet corn was as high as…

\n…an elephant’s eye…<\/p>\n

…over there on our home state’s Eastern Shore. For the uninitiated, any part of the State of Maryland on the Eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay is referred to as the “Eastern Shore” even if the Atlantic Ocean may be quite a distance away.<\/p>\n

Our ride took us across Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, on a bridge of some 4.3 miles (7km) in length and 186 feet (56.7m) in height, this bridge is daunting to some. We rode it without a problem — at posted speed going east and almost a crawl going back home west. The west return was awfully slow and hot. I think we caught everyone returning from beach rentals that were from Saturday to Saturday spanning the Independence Day Holiday. <\/p>\n

Our ride route:\"\"Included a stop at a quaint old small town where a famous author stayed while doing research to write his book titled Chesapeake<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We then took a ferry across a river…\"\"and arrived at a rather popular tourist town, St. Michaels, where we had crab cakes (what else?) for lunch.\"\"(BTW: booted in Belleville AF hot-weather boots<\/a> to make sure they are the correct selection to wear whilst riding in Utah. They are!)<\/p>\n

Then we mounted our trusty iron horses and headed back home. It was a terrific ride with a great guy who I love like a brother. (He must “rate” — his photo is with me in the header of this blog!)<\/p>\n

So, “S”, I think I am ready for our Utah adventure… when I arrived home from this ride today, I was not saddle sore. A little sun glow, but that’s about it. Ready for the heat of the desert soon.<\/p>\n
