Today I bury my dear friend Mary. My “original” LOLITS.<\/p>\n
Last night, I enjoyed meeting her grandchildren and two sons who live in Texas but flew “back home” to Maryland for the funeral. Yep, they were wearing boots as were the grandsons.<\/p>\n

\nMary’s two sons, three grandsons, and I will pull on nice dress boots with suits to serve as pallbearers for Mary at her funeral. I was honored to be asked to be the sixth pallbearer. I didn’t know this, but Mary told her children that I was sort of an “adopted son.” How sweet.<\/p>\n
Her family and I talked about whether or not to wear boots with suits last night. We had quite a discussion. But the ultimate question won the day — “how does she remember you?” Answer: in boots. So that made the decision and got the boys over their hesitancy and fear.<\/p>\n
It will be a rough time for me. I haven’t served as a pallbearer in a long time.<\/p>\n
I will be picking up and bringing three of our fellow grocery shoppers — also LOLITS — to the service. My spouse who loathes social occasions will be there with me, because I will need his support as I “lose it.”<\/p>\n
You see, Mary left instructions for how she wanted her funeral to go. As you recall from my previous post<\/a>, Mary was a singer, and inspired many others to join her in flash-mobbing me in grocery stores, on my front lawn, and elsewhere to sing for me.<\/p>\n My three LOLITS friends were asked by Mary’s daughter to comply with Mary’s wishes, and sing this song for me, Thank You For Being A Friend<\/em>:
