Surrounded By Cops

CopriderIn closing my staycation this year, I continued my service as a judge for a motorcycle police riding competition, otherwise known as a “motorcycle police rodeo.”

This event was held on Friday and Saturday, and I rode there on my own Harley each day. I am glad that my spouse has recovered enough from his illness such that I could leave him alone.

I enjoyed…

…the camaraderie of the motor officers we were working with, especially those from my own county. I am friends with two of the six cops from my county who participated in this event, and enjoyed talking with them about our community.

The photo below kinda says it all. I am in the process of have finished selecting from the more than 350 photos that I took the photos to crop and post for this year’s contribution to cop galleries on my website.Mapcop2016Note: the new photos are not now posted on this gallery.

Life is short: serve those who serve you.

  1. Well this explains why we were light on numbers at our own police rodeo up in Ontario this past weekend; two on the Eastern seaboard was likely poorly planned, eh?
But it is a great experience as a rider to see how well these folks can manoeuvre their motorcycles – and the huge leaps in ability over a relatively few number of days training.

  2. I seriously doubt they coordinate with each other. This year our numbers were down to 72 riders from 114 last year. Though last year our event was part of the World Police and Fire Games, drawing participants from far and wide.

Next year our event will be 13 – 16 September. Much better time of year when it is cooler. I fried this past weekend at our event, and if it were not for a broad-brimmed hat and ample sunscreen, I would have resembled a tomato.
